Personal Branding Vs Visibility

I reflected on the concepts of personal branding and visibility. In the past few years, I have been a silent observer on public platforms, taking time to work through my insecurities and express myself. Returning to the space made me realize the importance of visibility and personal branding for educators in the evolving educational landscape.

Are these concepts the same? As I see it, personal branding shapes one's professional identity, expertise, and values, while visibility determines how our contributions and ideas are seen and recognized by others. Although they are closely connected and contribute to professional growth, they are not the same.

In my experience, there was hesitation about how we expressed ourselves in our surroundings, often depending on others' reactions. Over the years, people have increasingly embraced personal branding and visibility rather than dismissing it as self-promotion.

I am in the process of continuous learning. As educators, we promote our students’ sharing. Do we model it for them? What is your experience with personal branding and visibility in the roles of educators and educational leaders?
